Dr Patrick Pang is currently a Lecturer (equivalent to an Assistant Professor) in the Faculty of Applied Sciences at Macao Polytechnic University (MPU). He received his PhD from the University of Melbourne and held appointments at the University of Melbourne and Victoria University before joining MPU. He received the Early Career Researcher Award from the University of Melbourne and has since obtained funding from the Macao Science and Technology Development Fund (FDCT). His research studies information behaviours, digital health and educational technologies. His interdisciplinary work seeks to build AI applications for health and education, thanks to his many years of industry experience in designing and building IT systems.
Looking for Supervision?
Patrick is supervising PhD candidates from two PhD programs at MPU: PhD in Computer Applied Technology and PhD in Educational Technologies and Innovation. He recruits PhD candidates who are capable of conducting interdisciplinary research in the following areas. Applicants should have relevant research/project experience, and demonstrate enthusiasm, integrity as well as diligence in research.
- Educational Technology: Teaching and Learning AI Applications, Human-Computer Interaction, Exploratory Learning, etc.
- Digital Health: Health Data Analysis, Digital Health Education, etc.
- Artificial Intelligence: Large Language Model (LLM) Applications in Education, Health, etc.
Students with different backgrounds are welcome as long as your research direction aligns with the above topics. Please email your research proposal, CV and transcripts in English if interested. Emails without all the required information may not get a reply. Students may consider that they have failed if there is no response within a month.
Important Note: Our research team has high expectations regarding time spent and academic output during the postgraduate study. It demands strong resilience, self-motivation, and the ability to learn and explore independently, as well as rigorous and efficient execution of research work.
